Street Art, Stencils, Stickers and Subversion

Everyone, at some point, has appreciated street art for its artistic or inspirational qualities. Even if you don't support the act of graffiti-writing, socially-conscious street art can brighten a community or stimulate discussion.

The photos below were compiled over a seven year period from a variety of sources, the majority being from independent websites, and some from people who've sent them in. Much of the art is from other countries, where punishment for dissent is much more severe than in the U.S.
